These are the rules for using Sitbeside. By using the app or creating an account, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Our Privacy Policy explains what the app does with your information.

Who can use Sitbeside

• You must be 13 or older to create an account.
• If you are under 18, use the app with a parent's or guardian's knowledge.
• One email address can have one account, and an account is for one person. Do not share your password or let someone else use your account.

What Sitbeside is

Sitbeside is a study aid. It reads the notes you give it and uses an AI model to write practice questions, explain mistakes and answer questions about your notes.

• The AI can be wrong. Questions, answers and explanations may contain mistakes. Check anything important against your class materials or with your teacher.
• It is for studying, not for handing in. Do not use Sitbeside to produce work you submit as your own, or in any way that breaks your school's rules. Following your school's rules is your responsibility.
• The app is not a replacement for your teacher, and it does not guarantee any grade or result.

Your content

• What you add (notes, photos of pages, answers, your profile and picture) stays yours.
• You allow us to store and process it only as needed to run the app for you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
• Only add things you have the right to use. Do not add other people's private information.

Seatmates: rules for connecting with others

Seatmates lets you connect with classmates, tutors and teachers. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. When you use Seatmates you agree that you will not:

• bully, harass, threaten or insult anyone;
• pretend to be someone else;
• use a name, profile text or picture that is sexual, violent, hateful, or otherwise offensive;
• share someone else's private information or contact details;
• connect with people in order to bother them, or try to get round a block;
• use the app for anything illegal.

Only connect with people you know. You can remove, block or report anyone you are connected to, at any time, from their page in the app.

What we do about it. Profile photos are checked automatically before others can see them. We review reports within 24 hours. If someone breaks these rules we may remove their photo, turn Seatmates off for their account, or close their account, and we may do so without warning. If you think we made a mistake, write to us at the address below.

Keeping the service working

Do not try to break, overload or misuse the app or its servers, get into other people's accounts, or get round the limits on how much you can use each day.

Ending

You can stop using the app at any time, and you can delete your account and everything stored in it from the Me tab. We may stop offering the app, or change what it does. We will try to give notice if that affects your saved work.

What we promise, and what we do not

We work to keep Sitbeside useful and reliable, but it is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, free of errors, or right for a particular purpose, and to the extent the law allows we are not responsible for losses that come from relying on it. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you that cannot be given up.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. If the change is important, the app will tell you.
